Residential Dementia Care at Four Seasons Health Care Group
Caring for a loved one with dementia can be one of the most challenging responsibilities, especially as their symptoms progress over time. Dementia affects not only memory and cognition but also a person’s ability to manage daily activities like cooking, washing, dressing, and living independently.
For many families, the decision to move their loved one into a residential dementia care home can be difficult, but it can also be the best solution for providing the specialised care they need in a safe environment. While family members do their best to support their loved ones at home, dementia care demands can escalate beyond what home care can provide.
At Four Seasons Health Care Group, we understand the emotional weight of this decision and aim to make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible by offering comprehensive and compassionate residential dementia care.
Our homes have Dementia Champions, who have undergone a programme of training called: ‘Our Approach to Dementia Care’ and who in turn have carried out workshops with our team in each home.
What Is Residential Dementia Care?
Residential dementia care is designed for those living with dementia and in need of help with day-to-day living but don’t need on-site 24/7 nursing. Our residential dementia care services help residents maintain independence and encourage social activity and relationship-building within the home.
Benefits of Residential Dementia Care
- 24/7 Support: Our dedicated and expertly trained care team are available around the clock to ensure that each resident receives personalised care tailored to their evolving needs. This includes assistance with day-to-day living, such as bathing, dressing, cooking, and eating.
- A Safe and Secure Environment: Dementia can often lead to confusion and disorientation, causing individuals to wander and compromise their safety. In a residential care setting, safety measures such as secure access and monitored spaces help prevent accidents, providing peace of mind to families knowing their loved ones are safe.
- Personalised Care Plans: We understand that every individual’s journey with dementia is different. Our teams create personalised care plans based on each resident’s needs, preferences and life story. This individualised approach not only addresses the unique care requirements of each person but also honours their dignity, promoting a sense of purpose and value.
- Sense of Community: Our residential dementia care homes encourage social interaction between residents, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Daily activities, group events, and therapeutic programmes are designed to stimulate the mind, body and soul, ensuring residents remain active and engaged in their daily lives.
What Sets Us Apart?
Our dementia care homes have dedicated team members, who spearhead our award nominated approach to dementia care. We call them Dementia Champions. Our Dementia Champions complete a 4–5-month programme, giving them the tools to cascade our dementia training to all team members in their home. This ensures every team member, from Housekeeping to Nurses, provides excellent person-centred dementia care.
A Home Away from Home
We want our residents to feel truly at home in our care. Each of our residential homes is designed to be a warm, welcoming and home-like environment where those with dementia can live with dignity and respect.
Our focus is not just on providing care but on ensuring that each resident can continue to live a meaningful life where their preferences are honoured, their stories are shared, and their days are filled with purpose.
Understanding dementia and the different types can be difficult, so we’ve put together a helpful list of questions and answers by way of a quick introduction to dementia.
If you are still determining whether this is the type of care you or your loved one needs, our team will be happy to talk this through with you.
